This row of beautiful ash trees in Boulder County are at risk because of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). Most of the trees are still healthy while a few do show symptoms of this destructive pest.
Here you can see signs of EAB activity including die back in the canopy (left) and “D” shaped holes in the bark (below).
We are performing trunk injections to treat all of these trees. First, we take great care to place holes around the base of the tree with a small drill.
Then the stainless steel probes are inserted into the holes.
The tree “drinks in” the product and the probes are then removed, leaving very little impact to the tree.
This method is very effective because it delivers the product directly to the vascular system and it provides a two year residual for preventative treatment of EAB.
We feel confident that we are doing everything we can to protect these beautiful trees by using the most effective products and least invasive treatments available.
